XRG Awarded $2.1M Industry Growth Program Grant to Accelerate Operator XR’s AI Roadmap

XRG Awarded $2.1M Industry Growth Program Grant to Accelerate Operator XR’s AI Roadmap

We’re thrilled to share that xReality Group (XRG) has been awarded a $2.1 million grant through the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program (IGP). This is an exciting recognition of the momentum we’ve built with Operator XR, and it gives us the opportunity to take things to the next level.

The IGP grant will help us accelerate our AI product roadmap and strengthen our position as the leading VR tactical training solution for law enforcement and defence agencies around the world. It’s a major milestone for us, and sets us up for even greater growth in the years ahead.

The highly competitive grant will be distributed quarterly over a 24-month period starting 1st August 2025.

What this means for Operator XR

With this support, we’ll be:

  • Supercharging our AI capabilities so we can deliver real-time feedback to trainees, automate scenario generation, and provide instructors with powerful decision support tools.

  • Doubling our weapon manufacturing capacity at our Sydney HQ, with new additive manufacturing tech and electronics design capability to meet growing demand.

  • Achieving global security and quality certifications to unlock larger-scale defence and government contracts around the world.

“Operator XR has seen extraordinary growth over the last 3 years which shows no signs of slowing down. The IGP grant will allow XRG to fast track Operator XR’s AI roadmap, which will further position Operator XR the market leader in tactical simulation, increasing both the training ROI for customers and the Company’s growth.”
Wayne Jones, Chief Executive Officer, xReality Group Ltd

Backed by strategic AI Leadership

This grant award follows our announcement earlier this year of Ash Crick leading our AI strategy, a move that’s already advanced key initiatives like automated scenario generation and AI-powered decision support. The IGP grant now gives us the runway to deepen and expand this work, delivering smarter, more personalised training experiences at scale.

Future-proofing Tactical Training

As part of the IGP rollout, XRG will hire additional technical staff and invest in capital equipment to drive both product development and in-house manufacturing. This ensures Operator XR remains differentiated in a fast-evolving global training market, with a clear advantage for agencies focused on operational effectiveness and ROI.

We’re honoured to be recognised by the Australian Government through this program, and are deeply grateful for their belief in what we’re building. This kind of support doesn’t just fuel product development, it helps secure jobs, build sovereign capability, and create real value for customers who are training for the highest-stakes environments.
